When Airlines advertise for pilots they only ever ask for pilots with certain levels of flight experience (flying hours) to apply.
Although it is nice for pilots to have a University degree the major Airlines in Australia never ask for candidates to hold a degree as a prerequisite to securing an Airline interview.
You can check this out for yourself by logging on to any of the major Airlines websites and navigating through to their employment pages for Flight Crew (Pilots).
A number of Universities around Australia offer excellent full time degree courses for prospective pilots. The downside of these courses are that they take 3 to 4 years to complete and after this extended period of time University trainees generally only graduate with a basic Commercial Pilot's licence, Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating & often have under 200 flying hours which fails to meet the minimum requirements to gain an interview with a major airline.
At Fast Track we recognise that it is nice for trainee Pilots to have a University degree but that it is most important for trainees to get a Commercial Pilot's Licence as quickly as they can so they can gain employment in the flying industry and start building those valuable hours to gain an interview with a major airline.
Fast Track Pilot Training has formed a relationship with the CQ University in Queensland. Fast Track students that graduate with a commercial pilot's licence can apply to CQ University to join their distance learning Bachelor of Aviation Degree program.
Students gain credits with CQ Uni by holding a commercial pilot's licence through Fast Track & therefore are exempted from Year 1 of the Bachelor of Aviation Degree & are only required to complete Years 2 & 3 of the degree.
This means that whilst you are working as a pilot in the industry and logging those valuable flying Hours in your log book you can be completing your degree at the same time.
By doing your Aviation Degree "The Fast Track Way" it is possible that 3 to 4 years after you start training with Fast Track Pilot Training that you could have around 3000 flying hours of experience logged in your pilot log book and hold a University degree and be well on your way to an interview with a major airline!
